Forensics Team
Advisor- Ms. Huljack
The Forensics Team is open to
all students who have an interest in furthering their ability to speak
and reason logically and accurately. Activities include participation
in interscholastic debates. There are also individual speech competitions
in impromptu speaking, oratory, etc. Competitions with neighboring
high schools and visits to college tournaments are all organized by the Newark Catholic Forensics League. Meeting time to practice your piece or debating skills is organized by the indivudual and Ms. Huljack. Times are flexible and practicing at home is suggested.
Literary Society
Advisor- Mr. Maiore
Literary Society is the high school's book club. Usually two members volunteer to present their views
of a book per meeting. The books discussed run the gamut from classical
to modern stories. Highlights of the year's activities are trips
to plays and movies, home video viewing of the books read, and a holiday
dinner. Literary Society meets Friday mornings at 7:30 in Mr. Maiore's room. In order to become a participant of this club you must sign up in the beginning of the year.
Prologue
Advisor- Ms. Sherman
The literary magazine, PROLOGUE, affords an opportunity
for those students with talents, abilities and interests in creative writing,
photography, and illustrative artwork to have their work published.
Any student may submit material for publication in the magazine and may
aid with publication by becoming a member of the staff.
Spotlight Newspaper
Advisor- Ms. Salerno
The Spotlight Newspaper Club is the organization that provides articles, information, and new events for newspaper stories. The Spotlight Club produces four major newspaper projects a year, averaging one every marking period in a school year. The club's goals also include preparing future journalists for the business world in the exciting field of journalism. Students who also participate in the activities given in Cranford High School classes Journalism I and Journalism II are also encouraged to publish their work. Spotlight Newspaper is open for students in any grade, and welcomes diverse writing styles. Meetings for the Spotlight Newspaper are for assigning articles. Due dates are assigned and if you have any questions or need help or advise with your article you can contact Mr. Mauro.
