Part One: Determine Your Rights
In this portion of your project you will identify the rights afforded you in the United States Constitution that allow you to express your views. You will write a reflective essay detailing these rights and how citizens use them to create political or social change.
Part Two: Make an Action Plan
In this portion of the project you will identify a specific social or political issue that you feel needs attention. Research and create your own plan to become politically or socially active in your community, state, or country. Action Plan forms will be available for you to use in completing this component of the project.
Part Three: Take Action and Reflect!
This is the Service Learning component of your project. You will be responsible for participating in an activity or creating a project that builds upon the Action Plan that you created in Part Two. You may work with a partner or a group of students to complete the task. You may choose from the suggestions on your assignment sheet or create a project of your own choosing. After you have completed your activity or project, you will submit a reflective essay describing its impact on your ideas about American citizenship.
