Please be advised that the district is doing everything to maintain a safe and healthy environment for your child, but we need your help. Please reinforce hand washing with soap and the use of a hand sanitizer if water is not available. Monitor your child’s temperature and keep him/her home with a fever of 100 degrees F or above. The child may not return to school unless fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. In order to track flu-like symptoms, please be specific when you call in to the absence hot line. Please describe all symptoms that your child has. This information is extremely important in order to monitor the progression of the flu and is in no way shared with anyone other than the Department of Health. What You Can Do to Stay Healthy · Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people. · Take everyday actions to stay healthy. o Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. o Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective. o Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. o Stay home if you get sick. CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. · Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures. · Find healthy ways to deal with stress and anxiety. · Call 1-800-CDC-INFO for more information.
