Livingston Avenue School
PTA Newsletter
Dear Parents/Guardians, It is my pleasure to welcome all of the new and returning families to Livingston Avenue School. I certainly hope you had a wonderful summer filled with excitement and relaxation. I also hope your children are prepared for an interesting, challenging and enjoyable school experience. I know the first day of school may be a struggle but once the students walk through the doors and see their new teachers and classrooms they will be delighted. The staff has been hard at work preparing for the first day of school and that is evident once the students step foot in the classroom. New books and supplies have been ordered, instructional materials have been prepared and the bulletin board displays are eye-catching. The administration has also been busy setting goals and objectives for our students’ academic and social growth and planning school wide events. All we need now are our students. There have been some changes and new additions to our staff. Nancy Damm will assume the role of school nurse and is eager to meet the student body. Jeanine Allen, choral/music teacher; AJ Falisi, band teacher; and Dr. Jeannine Mongeon, strings teacher will comprise our music department. With this talented group of teachers, I am already looking forward to the winter concert. Merryl Kramer will join our staff as a part-time special education teacher shared with Walnut Avenue School. We welcome back Kathryn Ferguson from maternity leave as a fifth grade teacher. And last but not least, Meghan Curti and Lindsay Kornmeyer will work on the fourth grade team this year. Please extend a warm Livingston Avenue welcome to these staff members when you meet them. The PTA is already hard at work and graciously spent their time assembling this first day packet. The teachers and I appreciate all their assistance with this task because it makes the process much easier. I encourage all parents and guardians to get involved with the PTA and share in the community spirit that represents Livingston Avenue School. The support and contributions of the PTA allow the teachers to plan and implement activities, programs, and trips in their classrooms; as well as offer after-school and nightly events. Please support the PTA in any manner possible. As the school year gets under way, please take a few minutes and stop by my office to say “hello”. I am eager to meet all of the new students and parents and welcome back our returning families. My door is always open for questions, comments, or concerns. I hope to see you soon. Sincerely,
Ms. Danielle Bache

Students in pre-school through grade 12 participate in the areas of literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts. The PTA Reflections Program provides a venue for students to create and be recognized for original works of art based on a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. The Reflections theme for the 2008/2009 school year is “WOW”. Have your child think about what it means to them and then let their talent shine by creating an original piece of artwork. Official entry forms will be available soon. Entries will be due in November. More information will follow. The students should have fun creating pieces with that theme. Stay tuned for more information.
