Rating: Three Stars
Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island is a treasure
worth discovering. Written in 1883, it is the story of a young boy named Jim
Hawkins and an adventure that begins with a mysterious sea captain who lives in
the Hawkins’ family inn. One day, two strange guests visit the Captain. One of
the guests gives him a piece of paper with a black spot on it. In the pirate
world, this spot is a sign that your life is in danger. Jim and his mother leave the house and come
back to find the visitors gone and the captain dead. Among the Captain’s
belongings, Jim finds a treasure map. This marks the beginning of a tremendous
adventure – one that includes pirates, treasure and betrayals! I would
recommend this book to anyone who loves tales of the sea. If you enjoyed The Pirates of Caribbean movie series, I
promise you will enjoy Treasure
Island.
