Mission Statement |
|
|
We believe that the central purpose of the Cranford Public Schools - Seton Hall University
Professional Development School Partnership is to simultaneously enhance our schools and
teacher preparation program and thereby provide exemplary learning experiences for
teachers, student teachers, student interns, university faculty and our students.
We believe, through the
collaboration process, we will further develop our teaching by refining our understanding
of research based educational theory and practice that will lead to increased student
learning.
We believe we have a
responsibility to serve as exemplary models of best practice. In order to do this,
we will continue to develop professionally. Through reflection and inquiry, we will
continuously improve in order to meet the needs of our diverse learning community.
The major beneficiaries of the PDS partnership will be our students, who will experience a
higher quality of education in their classrooms.
The focus of our PDS is
student centered and our goal is their development. We believe we can do this by
being responsive to each other in this partnership. |

Governance |
|
|
The
partnership participants agreed that among the most
important aspects of the PDS are collaboration and communication. To this end, a
collaborative governance structure was formed to discuss and reach consensus on policy and
direction, and to ensure communication to all participants. This structure consists of a
PDS Partnership Committee, which meets four times each school year, alternating sites between the school
district and the university. |

The PDS
Partnership Committee |
|
|
The Partnership Committee includes the superintendent of schools, a member of the board of
education, the assistant superintendent, the university dean,
representative chairpersons and faculty from the university, representative principal and
faculty members from the PDS schools, and representative university teacher candidates.
Additional guests attend to address particular agenda topics. These
members in turn communicate information to the larger group of PDS members
through faculty meetings and newsletters. |
