 Parent Teacher Association

The Walnut Avenue School PTA is an active, award-winning group of parents, staff, and community members who work together to make our school program responsive to the ever changing needs of our students and their families. In addition to funding special programs and subsidizing field trips, the PTA is continually striving to involve parents in activities that promote the health, safety, education, and socialization of their children. The PTA is the only national organization whose sole purpose is the welfare of the children. Recognizing that a student's achievement and self esteem are closely related to positive parental participation in education, the organization provides a variety of opportunities for parents to interact with each other, with teachers, and with the students of the school.

Membership in our association is open to everyone with an interest in the well-being of all children and particularly Walnut Avenue School students. All members will be entitled to serve on PTA committees and to vote at general meetings. Dues for the 2010-2011 school year are $7.00 per person plus a donation if desired and may be forwarded (with name, address, and telephone number) to: Membership Chairperson, Walnut Avenue School PTA, Cranford, NJ 07016. A portion of your dues will be forwarded to the NJ PTA and the national PTA to support the advocacy work done at those levels. Current and recent issues include school bus seatbelts and child safe handguns. Local units also benefit from training workshops and support materials provided by the state and national PTAs.
