  • Emergency Preparedness Plan and Information for LAS

    Dear LAS Community,

The Emergency Education Plan (Home Instructional Distance Learning) will begin on Monday, March 16th. Below you will find important information regarding the plan.

Your child’s learning plan could include paper-based materials, projects, and/or online activities/assignments.  At the elementary level (PreK-5), each teacher has put together a “to go bag” with materials that will allow your child to access their learning from home.  At LAS most teachers will be posting the assignments online either through Google Classroom or their website. For more detailed information of the Cranford Public Schools Distance Learning Expectations, please click HERE.

On Monday, March 16, 2020 please come to the building (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM) to pick up these supplies.  While there is a large window to make it accommodating to all, it would be very much appreciated if families could try their best to come in during the morning hours when I have several volunteers helping me with distribution.

A key piece to ensuring that distance learning is a success, is to maintain open lines of communication.  All staff will be available to assist you and your child throughout the school closure period. To assist in this process, staff members will have designated office hours where they will be available daily to answer questions and/or concerns. In addition, your teacher will contact you directly letting you know the other avenues in which they will communicate (Ex:  Google Classroom, Website, Email). Please click HERE for more specific information.

In addition, your family will be receiving phone calls from Cranford Public School Staff Members to check-in to see if any further support is needed. Please be aware that this call may come as a blocked number as our staff members will be calling from their personal cell phones.

Below you will find school contact information as well as additional helpful websites:

Fourth Grade – Livingston Avenue rear entrance (next to the parking lot)

Fifth Grade – Denman Road entrance

The District has implemented new school entry procedures for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

    Please note the following:

    • All visitors to our schools will need to have an appointment (advanced notice) to enter the building.
    • No visitors will be granted building access (unless they have a scheduled appointment) between the following times at each school:
      • 8:10 - 8:40 AM (arrival window)
      • 2:30 - 3:00 PM (dismissal window)
    • If you will be picking your child up early, you must notify the office prior to arrival.  If it is an emergency, call the school to notify the office.  Students will not be sent to the main office until a parent or guardian arrives.
    • If a visitor must drop off an item for a student (lunch, homework, etc…), they will be directed to deposit that item in a bin inside the main entry vestibule.  All items must be clearly labeled with the student’s name and grade level and will be retrieved by office staff.  Entry into the school building is not permitted.
    • Please click here for more information regarding visitor procedures.
