Mask Mandate Updated procedure for Mar 7th - 2/8/22
Good afternoon Cranford Public Schools Community,
Yesterday afternoon the governor announced that on March 7, the universal statewide school mask mandate will be lifted. The governor stated the removal of the mandate is due to the dramatic decline in cases, transmission rates, and hospitalizations, and an increase in vaccination rates, as well as predictive indicators that the numbers will continue to trend in these directions.
The governor further stated that, “We are not going to manage COVID to zero. We need to learn how to live with it.”
Therefore, in accordance with State guidance, Cranford Public Schools will not require universal masking, starting on March 7. Please be reminded that it is essential that we all work together to promote an environment where everyone can feel comfortable with their choice while respecting others who may make a different choice.
Please be advised that it was announced that prior to the mandate being lifted, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) will release guidance on masking, among other prevention strategies that should be used under certain circumstances, as well as guidance on other important related topics, such as quarantining. We are committed to keeping kids healthy and in school and we will continue to update the community as we receive additional information.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
