CPSD - Referendum Update 3/29/22

Good afternoon Cranford Community,

At Monday’s Board meeting (3/28/22), Mr. Carfagno, the business administrator, presented additional information on a proposed referendum featuring District enhancements at every school as well as a full-day kindergarten program.  Here is a video of that presentation.

The proposed referendum continues to be guided by the results of the the townwide survey which indicated that about 71% of the community was in support of District enhancements, i.e. Updating science labs, modernizing library/multimedia centers to support 21st Century STEM programs, enhancing performing arts spaces, enhancing accessibility options, Installing AC in large common spaces, upgrading electrical services, making repairs districtwide, etc…  Additionally, the survey indicated that approximately 65% favored full day kindergarten in the currently zoned elementary schools. Therefore, District enhancements and full-day kindergarten in currently zoned areas continue to be the focus of this referendum planning.

On behalf of the Referendum Exploration Steering Committee and the Cranford Board of Education, we are thrilled about the new and exciting opportunities a referendum would provide for our students districtwide and our community at large.
