Our Science department features lab courses in Biology, Geo-Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics. Advanced placement courses are offered in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Physics. A full year elective course is offered in Environmental Science, as well as semester elective courses in Astronomy, Marine Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Science, Bioethics and Forensic Science.   Education technology is integrated into the instructional process through computer-based labs, graphing calculators and interactive smart boards. The students participate in the New Jersey Science League competition and Merck State Science Day activities.

 

 

Applied Technology

The Applied Technology department offers a comprehensive selection of courses for students interested in the ever-changing world of technology. These courses include three consecutive levels of Pre-Engineering & Robotics. Additionally, three consecutive coursework levels in Woodworking, Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), and Automotive Technology are offered. All of these courses are designed to develop students’ technical expertise, problem solving skill, awareness of, and ability to excel, and the technological world in which we live. To that end, the technology equipment and curriculum at CHS are continually upgraded and faculty members continue to pursue training in new technologies. AutoCad for drafting and pre-engineering programs are upgraded each year as is the Alldata automotive resource system.

All students at CHS are encouraged to participate in these courses of study that incorporate hands on exploration of traditional, historical, and current technological skills and techniques that will prepare them for the future. For those with a specialized interest in technology, all of our programs are designed to prepare students for the world of work, and/or continued study at the post secondary level.

At Cranford High School the study of technology is valued and recognized for its importance in the development of the individual and society. Whether taken for enjoyment, exploration, preparation for continuing studies, or to prepare for entering the work force, Applied Technology courses prepare students for life.
