National Walking Day
As we get closer to our “National Walking Day” and participation in the Move More campaign, I wanted to share facts regarding the benefits of being more physically active.
Being physically active on a regular basis is important to promote overall health and prevent heart disease and stroke, which are responsible for more deaths in the United States than all forms of cancer combined.
Maybe you and your family have not been active enough for a while. Just get started even if it’s only a few minutes a day at first. It’s not all or nothing….It’s step by step!!
To begin it is quite simple: Eat smart and add more color to your meals. Eat clean and healthy, adding more colorful fruits and vegetables! Create an overall healthy lifestyle including adequate rest and sleep, stress management, mental health, social connections and mindfulness.
So join the movement and move more with us during the month of April. With the assistance of Mrs. Hardman and all our lunch aides, we will stretch, walk, cool down and discuss a healthy lifestyle(at recess). This will culminate with some fun treats donated by the P.T.A. and some stickers made by our very own Mrs. Bober.
“Sneakers” is our theme for National Walking Day on April 5, 2017!
Thank you and keep moving!
