New K-12 Supervisor of Mathematics

After an extensive search process which included multiple interviews and a thorough reference check, the Cranford Board of Education is pleased to announce Evan Levy as the new K-12 Supervisor of Mathematics. Mr. Levy will be replacing Dr. Gregg Caverly who is transitioning to the position of Director of Data and Learning Acceleration.

Mr. Evan Levy has been teaching mathematics over the last eight years at Boonton High School. During his tenure, he taught various courses at the college prep, honors, and advanced placement level including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Introduction to College Math, and Statistics. His daily instruction focused on using multiple representations through student-centered activities. Recognizing the need to provide an equitable opportunity for students to enroll in courses adhering to their own abilities and learning styles, Mr. Levy collaborated with a variety of community stakeholders in order to create a new course enrollment rubric as chair of the School Improvement Committee and math representative of the Faculty Advisory Committee. He also wrote curricula for many math courses in which a great deal of focus was placed in preparing students for a deep conceptual understanding relating to real life applications.

In addition, Evan Levy led Boonton High School’s year long Middle States Accreditation self-study as internal coordinator. Through this process, he facilitated an in-depth analysis of academic, social-emotional, and extracurricular programs. As a result, the school earned high praise and reaccreditation. Most recently, Mr. Levy was named a state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching.

Mr. Levy holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Fort Hays University in addition to supervisor and principal certification from Montclair State University. Evan Levy is honored to be named the new K-12 Supervisor of Mathematics for the Cranford Public School District. He is looking forward to collaborating with Cranford’s innovative and dedicated mathematics teachers across the district as they work towards the shared goal of enhancing student learning and success.
