CHS new assistant principal announced!

The Cranford Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Lewis as the new Assistant Principal of Cranford High School. Mr. Lewis was selected after an extensive search process which included multiple interviews with the selection committee; reviews of work samples; and a very thorough reference check.

 

Mr. Lewis holds dual Bachelor's Degrees in History and Spanish Language Studies from Ramapo College of New Jersey and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.

 

He began his educational career at Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ, where he served as a Social Studies teacher and held a variety of leadership roles, including Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, advisor to the Junior State of America and Model UN programs, professional development leader, and curriculum designer for AP U.S. Government and AP Comparative Government courses. Throughout his time in the classroom, Mr. Lewis demonstrated a deep commitment to student engagement, critical thinking, and fostering a safe and welcoming learning environment.

 

In 2023, Mr. Lewis was promoted to Dean of Students at Franklin High School. In this role, he collaborated closely with administrators, counselors, and faculty to enhance school climate and student success. He led initiatives to improve student attendance and behavior, developed and delivered professional development on restorative practices, and trained staff on effective instructional strategies aligned with the Danielson 2022 Framework. As a member of the School Improvement Panel (ScIP), Mr. Lewis analyzed observational and performance data to drive instructional improvement and developed targeted PD to support teacher growth.

 

Mr. Lewis lives in Kenilworth with his wife, Stephanie, their two-year-old daughter, Jemma, and their newborn son, Jace. He is honored to join the Cranford community and is excited to partner with students, faculty, families, and community members to support the continued excellence of Cranford High School.
