Writing Center

What is the Writing Center?
The Cranford High School Writing Center, open to underclassmen, seeks to improve a student writer’s ability to utilize the writing process in the development of academic compositions. Through a collaborative effort, trained peer tutors will work with students on specific facets such as analyzing content, establishing organization, and refining mechanics. Using mentor texts and student samples, the tutors will build the confidence of young writers as they craft clear, effective essays in all modes of writing.

Location: The Writing Center is located in the Wolfe Library and Learning Commons

Hours: 7:30 - 8:00 am; 11:00 - 11:50 am; 3:00 - 3:30 pm

What to Expect
At the Writing Center, we are here to help you overcome the English obstacles you may be experiencing. Our tutors are equipped to guide you through any stage of the writing process while giving you the freedom to take charge of your own paper. Sessions are tutee-led, allowing you to choose where to focus your efforts with an experienced tutor coaching you through the process. Tutors can help generate original ideas and help with grammar, thesis, voice, structure, content, and anything else needed. We are here to help, but at the end of a session, our main goal is to produce a better writer, not a better paper.
*Tutors are not responsible for the student's grades
