Family Life Education and HIV/AIDS Curriculum

Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades K-9, 11, 12

During the course of the school year, your child will receive instruction about good health practices, including grade-appropriate instruction relative to family living and HIV prevention as approved by the Cranford Public Schools Board of Education and as mandated in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education. The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards are available on the Internet at https://www.nj.gov/education/cccs/2020/2020%20NJSLS-CHPE.pdf. The family living and HIV prevention program in grades K-4 will provide students with much basic information about good health and good hygiene practices, and will provide the building blocks of the family living and HIV prevention program in grades 5-12.

If any part of this instruction in family life education and HIV/AIDS conflicts with your conscience or sincerely held moral or religious beliefs, your child may be excused from that portion of the course in which such instruction is being given without penalties (N.J.S.A. 18A:35-4.6, et. seq.).  Should you wish to have your child excused, please login to PowerSchool Parent/Guardian Account and complete forms in InfoSnap-New and Returning Student Registration/data validation system.
