Sophomore and junior students and their parents/guardians are invited to join the CHS School Counseling department for a college panel discussion to hear from current CHS seniors about their college search and application process.  Following the student panel, representatives from Rutgers University, Binghamton University, The College of New Jersey, Caldwell University, and Dickinson College will answer questions to help give students some insight into the world of college admissions

JUNIOR CHECK-INS

2024 AP EXAM SCHEDULE

AP EXAMS ARE MONDAY, MAY 6 THROUGH FRIDAY, MAY 17 AT CHS

What to bring:

  • Sheet of AP labels
  • Two sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for completing multiple-choice answer sheets.
  • Two pens with black or dark blue ink only, for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.  
  • A watch (in case the exam room doesn’t have a clock that can be easily seen). This cannot be a smart watch.
  • Up to two calculators with the necessary capabilities if taking an AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Physics, or Statistics Exam. Instruct students to visit apstudents.org/courses and click on the link for their course for the specific calculator policy. 
  • Extra batteries for calculator.
  • A ruler or straightedge if taking an AP Physics Exam. 
  • Snacks/water are allowed but must be kept on the floor at your desk. Backpacks/bags cannot be accessed during the exam. 
  • If students will not be in school before or after an exam, parents/guardians MUST call and notify the attendance office to excuse the student, as is the case with any other absence from school. 

 

MORNING EXAMS

Report to testing location at 7:30 AM

AFTERNOON EXAMS:

Report to testing location at 11:30 AM


STUDENTS MUST SIT FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE EXAM AND ALL STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT THE SAME TIME. THERE IS NO EARLY DISMISSAL FROM EXAMS FOR SPORTING EVENTS OR ANY OTHER PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS.

 

COURSE REQUESTS 2024-2025

Course selection is now complete for the 2024-2025 school year.  Teachers are also revisiting recommendations now that marking period 3 has endedDropped courses, level changes and course changes due to schedule conflicts only are allowed from this point through the end of the 2023-2024 school year.  A copy of course requests will be mailed home in May.


Course level waivers and an explanation of this process will be available for students in May. 


Students will be contacted in June if there are any conflicts with scheduled courses.  Scheduled courses will be made available in July.  Schedules with room and teacher assignments will be viewable in PowerSchool at the end of August. 


If students would like to make changes to scheduled electives over the summer, there will be an opportunity to set up a meeting for the schedule change committee in August.   

JUNIORS REQUESTING LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Beginning Wednesday, March 13, 2024, juniors were able to begin asking teachers for letters of recommendation as part of the college application process.  Students should be sure to see the teacher in person.  Students should obtain two CHS faculty/staff letters of recommendation.

  • Meet with your teacher in person to ask if he/she would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for you.  
  • Students will make electronic teacher recommendation requests in Naviance in September once they  have a defined list of colleges to which they are applying.
